Community is at the heart of what we do here at N-Gage. We love to see young people engaging with the people in their neighbourhoods and bringing positive change in all areas across the city. We believe that young people are valuable and incredible at bringing about change, so whether it’s through our street-based mobile youth centre or our community action programmes, we help young people to reach their full potential in their community.
Transforming young people, Transforming communities.
Day long activities centred around community action projects for which the young people are rewarded with trips or activities. Many of the young people who take part in Transform have been involved with N-Gage’s school work. The community projects support the work done in school and enable us to access their interaction outside classroom. They are also great opportunities to challenge stereotypes held both by the communities and the young people and to enable young people to become part of the solution in changing their communities.
Catalyst Youth Work
Catalyst is N-Gage’s youth work programme. Launched in October 2011, N-Gage delivers detached youth work sessions five nights a week across South Manchester, North Manchester and Wythenshawe. N-Gage partners with Manchester City Council and Greater Manchester Police to offer a highly flexible and targeted approach towards anti-social behaviour, youth crime, disengagement and community disturbance. It is an early-intervention strategy that focuses on hard-to-reach young people by providing mobile youth services. To find out more click here.
Revolution activity weeks are a great opportunity to take young people out for a week of day trips during the school holidays.
The day trips open them up to a wide range of experiences: the seaside, activity centres, bowling, golf, laser questing. They also build them up as individuals, developing their confidence, their ability to work with others in a team, and their skills at meeting and getting on with new people.
